What is the creative industries?

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DMCS) define it as:

“have their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent and which have a potential for wealth and job creation through the generation and exploitation of intellectual property”.

The DMCS break the creative industries into 9 sub-sectors: 

  • advertising and marketing
  • architecture
  • crafts
  • design: product, graphic and fashion design
  • film, TV, video, radio and photography
  • IT, software and computer services
  • publishing
  • museums, galleries and libraries
  • music, performing and visual arts

Creative Industries contribution to the Economy
The creative industries contributed £124bn in gross value added (GVA) to the UK economy in 2023, equivalent to 5.2% of the GVA of the whole UK economy. (DMCS)

Henley Enterprise Lab (HELAB) support for the enterprise and entrepreneurial ventures

empowers 桃色视频 and Henley Business School students and recent graduates to create and build start-up enterprises. This support includes those starting side hustles, freelancing and contracting enterprises as well and business start ups. HELAB supports:

a) deliver a range of sponsored extracurricular initiatives that support the entrepreneurial journey of students and recent graduates;
b) collaborate with stakeholders, both within the university and externally, with regional, national and international entrepreneurial ecosystems;

HELAB supports the following co-curricular entrepreneurship activities for students:
