Two popular community events are returning to campus this month, with everyone invited to join.
The Community Festival is taking place on Saturday 17 May at the Whiteknights campus.
From 12pm until 5pm, the beautiful Whiteknights grounds will transform into a vibrant celebration featuring live music, performances, street food, and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages.
This year introduces themed zones – Time, Earth, Bodies and Imagination – each offering unique insights into the University’s world-leading research.
Highlights include: the festival’s main stage, a live weather balloon launch, cake decorating, sports and yoga taster sessions (including a campus bike ride), African drumming workshops, research talks and much more.
The University’s Museums will be open for visitors, and a local food and drink experience is taking place at Park House.
The festival also celebrates local talent, with artists performing on the main stage and community organisations and businesses participating alongside University departments.

The will be held on Tuesday 20 May at Reading Students’ Union, on the Whiteknights campus.
Hosted by the University Vice Chancellor, Professor Robert Van de Noort, this event is an opportunity for local residents to find out more about the University and Reading Student Union's community activity.
The main focus of this event will be the University’s plans to celebrate its centenary in 2026, and a group discussion will allow residents the chance to help shape these plans.
There will also be updates from the previous Community Forum, some break-out discussions on various topics and the chance for residents to raise any concerns they have.
This free event includes a buffet dinner and refreshments. Registration is essential.

The University is also hosting three public events as part of the internationally renowned festival, bringing cutting-edge research directly to local and surrounding residents. These evening events will take place at Park House between 19-21 May.
